Reiki Certification Courses
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) is a Japanese system of energy healing that works with universal life-force energy to support balance and well-being within the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the individual. Gentle and non-invasive, Reiki encourages deep relaxation, greater energetic balance, and an increased awareness of the connection between body, mind, and spirit.
One of the beautiful aspects of Reiki is its simplicity. Reiki can be learned by anyone and used as a personal practice for self-care, reflection, and spiritual growth, or developed further as a healing practice offered to others. It can also be used alongside conventional medical care and other therapeutic approaches as a complementary practice to support relaxation and overall well-being.
At Dendera Ascend, Reiki is taught in the tradition of Usui Shiki Ryoho, the Usui System of Natural Healing. The system traces its origins to Mikao Usui, who developed his method of Reiki practice in Japan in the early twentieth century. From Usui, Reiki was passed through successive teachers and eventually carried to the West, where the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition developed.
Reiki training is progressive, with each degree building upon the practice and experience developed at the previous level. Students begin with the foundations of Reiki and self-practice in First Degree, expand their work through the Reiki symbols and distance healing in Second Degree, and may continue into the deeper practitioner training of the Reiki Master Degree. Each level includes Reiki attunements, instruction, discussion, and hands-on practice designed to help students develop their own relationship with Reiki over time.
For those who later feel called to teach Reiki and attune others, Reiki Master Teacher is offered as a separate advanced training following completion of the Reiki Master Degree.
Whether you are drawn to Reiki for your own personal practice or feel called to eventually share it with others, Reiki training begins with learning to experience and work with the energy for yourself.

Reiki - First Degree
Reiki Level 1, or First Degree Reiki, introduces students to the foundational principles and practices of Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. This beginner-level training is designed for anyone who would like to learn Reiki for personal growth and self-care, as well as those who may eventually wish to offer Reiki to others or continue into more advanced levels of training. No previous experience with Reiki or energy work is required.
During this course, students are introduced to the history, philosophy, and principles of Reiki and begin exploring the concept of universal life-force energy and the human energy field. Students learn traditional Reiki hand positions and techniques for offering Reiki to themselves and others, along with foundational practices for grounding, energetic awareness, and working with the chakra system.
Students receive four First Degree Reiki attunements, which establish and strengthen their connection with Reiki and allow them to begin experiencing and working with Reiki energy directly. Throughout the day, students have opportunities to experience Reiki both as practitioner and recipient while developing confidence in their ability to work with the energy.
An important focus of First Degree Reiki is establishing a personal Reiki practice. Students learn how to incorporate Reiki into self-treatment and everyday life while developing greater awareness of their own energy, intuition, and well-being. Reiki may also be shared with friends and family, and students will explore ways Reiki can be offered to animals and other living beings.
This full-day, in-studio course is limited to an intimate group of four students, allowing ample time for instruction, discussion, hands-on practice, and individual attention. Students will practice with one another throughout the day and will receive a comprehensive Reiki First Degree manual and a certificate of completion.
Prerequisites: None. Reiki Level 1 is a beginner course and no previous Reiki or energy-work experience is required.
Tuition: $195 (A $50 deposit is required at time of registration)
Next Class: Saturday January 9, 2027
Reiki - Second Degree
Reiki Level 2, or Second Degree Reiki, builds upon the foundation established in Reiki Level 1 and expands the practitioner’s ability to work with Reiki in more focused and intentional ways. This intermediate-level training is designed for students who are ready to deepen their Reiki practice, broaden their understanding of the human energy field, and begin working with Reiki beyond the traditional hands-on approach learned in First Degree.
During this course, students receive two Second Degree Reiki attunements and are introduced to three traditional Reiki symbols. Students learn the meaning and purpose of each symbol and how they may be incorporated into both personal practice and Reiki sessions with others. We will explore techniques for strengthening and focusing Reiki energy, supporting mental and emotional well-being, and working with patterns held within the energy field.
An important component of Second Degree training is distance Reiki. Students learn how Reiki may be offered when the practitioner and recipient are not physically together, as well as ways of working beyond the immediate present moment. This expands the ways Reiki can be incorporated into both personal practice and sessions with others.
As students deepen their practice at this level, they may also notice greater awareness of subtle energy and increased confidence in their intuitive perceptions. Reiki Level 2 encourages students to continue developing these abilities while remaining grounded in the principles and practices established in First Degree.
This full-day, in-studio course is limited to an intimate group of four students, allowing ample time for instruction, discussion, hands-on practice, and individual attention. Students will practice with one another throughout the day and will receive a comprehensive Reiki Second Degree manual and a certificate of completion.
Prerequisites: Completion of Reiki Level 1/First Degree in the Usui Reiki tradition and a minimum of three months of active Reiki practice. Students who completed First Degree training with another Reiki Master Teacher will be asked to provide a certificate of completion.
Tuition: $250 (A $50 deposit is required at time of registration)
Next Class: Saturday, January 16, 2027
Reiki - Third Degree
Reiki Level 3, or the Reiki Master Degree, is an advanced practitioner training for students who feel called to deepen their relationship with Reiki, strengthen their healing practice, and continue their personal and spiritual development. At this level, Reiki becomes not only a healing practice for others, but an increasingly integrated part of the practitioner’s own inner work, awareness, and everyday life.
During this course, students receive the Reiki Master attunement, which deepens and strengthens their connection with Reiki energy. Students are introduced to the Usui Master symbol and explore its meaning, applications, and use within both personal practice and healing sessions. We will build upon the techniques and principles learned in Reiki Levels 1 and 2 while exploring more advanced approaches to energy work, intuitive awareness, and working within the human energy field.
Reiki Master training also invites students to explore the deeper spiritual dimensions of Reiki. Through continued practice, students may find that their intuition and energetic sensitivity become more refined and that their understanding of Reiki evolves beyond technique into a deeper relationship with universal life-force energy. Level 3 provides an opportunity to strengthen confidence as a practitioner while continuing the personal growth and self-healing that are central to the Reiki path.
This full-day, in-studio course is limited to an intimate group of four students, allowing ample time for instruction, discussion, hands-on practice, and individual attention. Students will practice with one another throughout the day and will receive a comprehensive Reiki Master manual and a certificate of completion.
The Reiki Master Degree is a complete advanced practitioner training and does not include instruction in teaching Reiki or giving Reiki attunements. Students who later feel called to teach Reiki and attune others may continue their training through the separate Reiki Master Teacher Degree course. Completion of the Reiki Master Degree is required before enrolling in Reiki Master Teacher training.
Prerequisites: Completion of First and Second Degree Usui Reiki course or provide certificate of completion from another Usui Reiki Master. At least 6 months of active practice of Reiki Level 2 is required to enroll in this class.
